The Japanese cabinet has approved a $135 billion economic package, mainly aimed at easing the impact of rising prices. Shunsuke Kobayashi, Chief Economist at Mizuho Securities, says the measures offer only short-term relief. For lasting stability, he notes, Japan needs to address structural supply-side challenges — especially labor shortages.
